Partnership with ABC's Ugly Betty

Girls Inc. is teaming up with ABC on the "BE UGLY '07" campaign. The campaign encourages people to be real in a superficial world, just like the title character of ABC's hit show, Ugly Betty.  Girls Inc. kicked off the partnership at a luncheon event hosted by ABC Entertainment and CosmoGIRL! magazine, where girls from Girls Inc.of NYC met the show's star, America Ferrera.  You will remember that America also starred in The Traveling Jeans movie, which partnered with Girls Inc. on an Ebay auction.  In Ugly Betty, America portrays a young Latina from Queens who lands a job at a high fashion magazine in Manhattan.  Betty maintains her own sense of self as she brings her work ethic and her values to the ethically-challenged work place.  And, she continues to stick with her odd clothes, plastic-framed glasses, braces and personal hairstyle even against fun that is made of her by her colleagues.  Betty is truly a strong, smart and bold young woman.  Congratulations to America Ferrera and the Ugly Betty team on their recent Golden Globe wins!
